Show up how you want to be seen, everyone else will get the memo!
For years, serial entrepreneur and mom-of-2 Georgie has been helping other companies with their brands; running a branding agency for startups and more recently, a virtual event production firm.
But when it came to branding herself, her insecurities wouldn't let her.
"I'm not a model. I can't pose. I don't have a sense of style."
Her experience with race and gender also complicated things.
"As a Black woman, I sometimes feel like I can do nothing right. If I wear bright colors, it's too much, if I look formal, it's too much. On the other hand, if I can't do anything right, the best thing is to do whatever I want!"
So what happened when she showed up as her most powerful, confident self? People started treating her that way.
"I'm not a model by any means, but people started treating me like one. They ooohed and aaahed and complimented me. They stopped and looked. They cleared space for me during the shoot."
This lead to a powerful realization.
"If I show up the way I want to, others will get the message. When I want to be perceived as a powerful CEO, I need to first show up that way, regardless of what the voices in my head are telling me."
